Grease, Repair, or Service Vehicles in Street

It is unlawful to grease, repair, or otherwise service a vehicle upon any street, or to park a vehicle upon any street for the principal purpose of greasing, repairing, or otherwise servicing such vehicle, except repairs necessitated by an emergency. The penalties include costs of prosecution and fines of $75.00 for a first offense, $150.00 for a second offense and $300.00 for a third or subsequent offense. In default of payment, to undergo imprisonment for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days.

Alcoholic Beverages

It is unlawful for any person to consume any alcoholic beverage or carry or possess any opened vessel containing any alcoholic beverage in a public place or in a vehicle parked in a public place; including definitions, exceptions. The penalties include costs of prosecution and fines of $75.00 for a first offense, $150.00 for a second offense and $300.00 for a third or subsequent offense. In default of payment, to undergo imprisonment for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days.

Bicycle Helmets

Bicycle helmets are required for anyone 12 years old and under. Everyone should wear a helmet for his or her own safety.

Parking

Please remember to park legally. Do not park against oncoming traffic, within 30 feet of a stop sign, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within 20 feet from a crosswalk at an intersection, or where posted, as these violations (and more) may be cause for a parking violation.

Curb Your Dog!

The Police Department has received many complaints about people walking their dogs along sidewalks and not cleaning up. Please clean up after your dog or you could be fined.

Parking Tickets

Parking tickets are due from the time issued. If you stop by the office and the doors are locked, you may leave your check and parking ticket in the drop-off box. (Citations are paid at the Magistrate’s office.) Do NOT Leave cash. The drop-off box is located in the entranceway in front of the building. This is the same box that you use to drop off your water bill.

Police Bicycle Patrol

The Police Department is currently looking for donations to purchase equipment for a bike patrol comprised of two Officers Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Officer Chris Lubenetski or Melanie Hansen at 610-966-4777 for more information.

Children Playing in Streets

Parents are reminded that children should not play in the streets.

Stray Cats and Dogs

Please contact the Police Department before bringing stray cats and dogs to the Lehigh County Humane Society. The Police Department will issue a report number.

House Numbering

Please. Check the front of your residence; your numbers for your house may need repair or replacement. The Fire, Ambulance and Police cannot help you if they cannot find you during an emergency. Remember “911” is for emergencies only. For non-emergencies do NOT call the Borough Hall. Someone may not be there to help you. Please call (610) 437-5252.

Signs and Posters

State law prohibits the use of metal fasteners to attach signs or posters to utility poles. Do not staple or nail any materials (yard sale signs, events, etc.) to utility poles. Use string.

Pennsylvania's Law of Love

All children from birth to age 4 must be secured in an approved car seat anywhere in the vehicle effective August 21, 1993. Violators of this primary law are subjected to a maximum fine of $100.00 plus Court Costs, EMS, Cat Fund, and Administrative Fees.
All children form age 4 to age 8 must be secured in a seat belt system and an appropriate child booster seat anywhere in the vehicle, effective February 21, 2003. Violators of this secondary law are subjected to a maximum fine of $100.00 plus EMS, Cat Fund, and Administrative Fees.
All children from age 8 to 18 must be secured in in a seat belt system anywhere in the vehicle, effective February 21, 2003. Violators of this secondary law are subjected to a $10.00 fine plus EMS, Cat Fund, and Administrative Fees.
ALL DRIVERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURING CHILDREN IN THE APPROPRIATE RESTRAINT SYSTEM.
