There is a major drug addiction and drug overdose problem in the U.S. These national epidemics pose serious threats to the health, safety and well being of our nation's young people.

National studies show that teens are now more likely to abuse a prescription drug than an illegal street drug. In addition, prescription medications have become the leading cause of accidental childhood poisonings.

Reducing drug accessibility and education on medication misuse, for both parents and kids, are key components in our nation's efforts to address these serious issues and make a positive impact in the lives of the children who live in the communities we serve.

KidCents and The Rite Aid Foundation are proud to partner with local law enforcement agencies to help create a safe environment for children to live and grow

KidCents and The Rite Aid Foundation are committed to supporting a safe environment for children in our communities by helping to reduce the misuse of medications by adolescents and accidental childhood poisonings.

The Safe Medication Disposal Program advances that mission by providing local law enforcement agencies in Rite Aid service areas with medication disposal units to ensure that individuals can safely dispose of unwanted medications in an environmentally-friendly manner, while keeping them out of the hands of kids and teenagers.

In an effort to provide more reliable communications with residents and also to fulfill a requirement of the DEP (Department of Environmental Protection), the Borough of Alburtis has implemented Swiftreach Networks, Inc. as our Emergency Notification service provider.SWIFT911 is a high speed notification program with the capability of delivering recorded warnings to the entire community, via telephone, email, text or pager. If you prefer to be notified in a way other than your listed home phone number, please visit our EMERGENCY ALERTS page and click on the Swift911 icon. This system will enable the Borough to contact you when there is a water issue, snow emergency or other important issues. All of the calls will have the caller ID of the Borough of Alburtis.

If you received a phone call from the IRS, it is probably a scam. Please report this to the Treasury Department at the link above. There is also a list of phone numbers being used by the scammers on the Treasury Department page. Remember the IRS does not call you to say you owe money. If you have any questions regarding this or if a relative calls saying they need money sent via Western Union or MoneyGram or any other wiring service, please contact the police department prior to sending any money, as these are various scams being used.
